Applications Now Available for Summerfair Cincinnati Special Grants
Grants support small and mid-size arts organizations
CINCINNATI – Summerfair Cincinnati, the non-profit organization that promotes visual and performing arts in the Greater Cincinnati area, has announced that applications are now available for the organization’s special grants.
Summerfair Cincinnati’s Special Grants program is open to small and mid-sized visual and performing arts organizations. The program traditionally provides financial support up to $2,500 to assist organizations with the creation of new programs, expansion of current programs, or assistance with production or presentation expenses. The grants must be used for a project or program that will be completed by the end of 2008.
“Summerfair Cincinnati is proud to support community performing art programs and organizations,” said Sharon Strubbe, Executive Director of Summerfair Cincinnati. “We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to showcase their creative and artistic talents. Great music isn’t limited to the concert hall just as fine paintings aren’t limited to the art museum.”
Recent recipients of the Summerfair Cincinnati Special Grants program include Center for Independent Living Options, Contemporary Dance Theater; Enjoy the Arts, Kennedy Heights Art Center, Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati, Visionaries and Voices, Flying Cloud Dance Academy and Footlighters Inc.
Applications for Summerfair Cincinnati Special Grants can be found on the Summerfair Cincinnati website at www.summerfair.org, by calling (513) 531-0050 or by sending an email to info@summerfair.org.
Applications are due by January 18, 2008 and grant winners will be announced mid-February. Grants will be allocated by March 31, 2008. Summerfair Cincinnati has been supporting and promoting artists and the arts in Greater Cincinnati for 40 years. The organization's activities include: supports for individual artists including grants and exhibitions; community-based art activities and events; and a nationally-recognized annual fine arts festival.
The effectiveness of Summerfair Cincinnati activities has earned the organization regional and national recognition including: Post-Corbett Award of Excellence, Greater Cincinnati Convention & Visitors Bureau Outstanding Service Award, Southwestern Ohio Art Education Award for Distinguished Organization, American Marketing Association Community Impact Award and the National Association of Independent Artists Artists’ Choice Award.
