The Cincinnati Art Museum has an immediate opening for a part-time human resources assistant position in the Human Resources department.

Responsibilities:  Working under the direction of the human resources manager (with some direction from the deputy director of finance & operational affairs and the Art Museum director), the human resources assistant provides administrative support and technical assistance in the delivery of human resources services within the Cincinnati Art Museum. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing day-to-day benefit administration services for all Art Museum sponsored plans, including medical/dental/vision plan, 401(k), disability, worker's compensation, life insurance, flexible spending account, and any other benefit plan programs.
  • Coordinating all open enrollment and education sessions for Art Museum benefit programs. 
  • Assisting staff with pending claims or processing requests related to Art Museum benefits.
  • Assuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations including COBRA, Family Medical Leave Act, and other legal requirements.  Keeping updated on emerging and changing issues & laws.
  • Assisting payroll coordinator with entering payroll information, including new hire data entry and salary information.
  • Creating and maintaining personnel files, as well as updating terminated files.
  • Preparing and maintaining new hire packets and employee personnel forms.
  • Processing background checks and handling employment verifications.
  • Gathering and providing information for internal use and salary surveys.
  • Assisting with updating job descriptions and preparing job advertisements; sending postings to applicable publications and ensuring diverse recruiting.
  • Assisting with scheduling and facilitating new hire orientation program
  • Assisting with interview and recruitment process, including scheduling interviews, as well as responding to questions from the general public regarding employment opportunities.
  • Assisting Human Resources Manager with the implementation of new Art Museum initiatives and policies.

Requirements: Ideal candidate will have a high school diploma (bachelor's degree preferred) and at least 2-3 years experience in the administrative and human resources function, including benefits administration.  A good working knowledge of computer programs, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work well with other people are essential. The successful candidate should be able to communicate with a wide range of people and be able to maintain confidential and sensitive information on a daily basis. Candidate must possess the ability to work independently and possess good problem-solving skills.
