Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati will open its 2008-2009 Season with the regional premiere of the fun and eccentric Broadway smash hit musical, Grey Gardens, with book by Doug Wright (author of I Am My Own Wife).

Meet Jackie O's most scandalous and outrageous relatives, Big Edie and Little Edie Beale, who were once the brightest names in the social register. This musical charts the progression of the mother-daughter duo from wealthy aristocrats to notorious, eccentric, and penniless recluses who locked themselves away in their dilapidated mansion, Grey Gardens, overrun with cats and cited for numerous health department violations. As their wealth and contact with the outside world dwindled, so did their grasp on reality. They were reintroduced to the world when international tabloids learned of the squalor in which they lived, and Jackie swooped in to save her relatives. Winner of three 2007 Tony Awards® with book by Doug Wright, author of the 2004 Tony Award®- and Pulitzer Prize-winning I Am My Own Wife, and based on the legendary 1975 documentary of the same name, Grey Gardens examines what might have been and what was in the complicated lives of these two women.
