The cincinnatiArtist of the month program is a chance for individual artists in the greater Cincinnati region to have their work showcased on cincinnatiArts.com and reach a very large audience. The cincinnatiArtist of the month is chosen at random from all qualified applicants whose applications are less than a year old. Therefore, artists only need to submit an application once a year.

Any of the following visual art mediums are accepted: drawings, paintings, pastels, sketches, prints, fiber arts, digital art, sculpture - any medium that translates well to digital format would be acceptable.

Once the web application below is submitted, the artist will be emailed contact information. The contact information will include an email address and a snail mail address, as well as a phone number to call if there are any questions. The artist must then send the following to one of the contact addresses:

10-16 digital images, meeting the following parameters:

• Jpeg or tiff format. If in jpeg format, the use the least amount of compression. (Note to Mac users: the files must be named with the appropriate file extension - *.jpg or *.tif)
• No larger than 1MB each.
• No smaller than 300 pixels wide by 200 pixels high, at a resolution of 72 dpi (pixels/inch). Images larger than 720 pixels wide are preferred. Resolutions other than 72 dpi are not preferred.
• An additional image of the artist themselves is also acceptable.

A text file in one of the following formats: text (*.txt), rich text (*.rtf), HTML (*.htm, *.html), or MS Word 95, 97, 2000 (*.doc), (Note to Mac users: the files must be named with the appropriate file extension) containing:

• A detailed description of each image submitted, including title, date, and medium. Please include photography credits, if appropriate.
• An artist's statement, no less than 100 and no more than 300 words in length.
• An artist bio, no less than 100 and no more than 5000 words in length.
• Additional biographical information, such as past awards, shows, collections, etc. (optional, but preferred).

If sending via email, send no more than 1MB in attachments in each email.

If sending on media, use only PC formatted floppies or zip disks, or send on a CD-ROM. Please label all media with artist's name and phone number. [NOTE: Any media submitted (CD-ROMs, floppy disks, and zip disks) will only be returned if a self-addressed envelope with the appropriate postage is included.]

Do not send slides, photos, prints, or any other physical format. Only digital images will be accepted. Do not send hand written, type written, or printed artist statements, bios, or any other info on paper. Any submission not meeting the above criteria will be disqualified.

Please understand that this is a family-oriented website, and although we do not believe in censorship, we will only use images appropriate for viewing by children of any age.

On or around the middle of each month, a different artist will be picked at random from all eligible submissions (those that meet the above criteria and are less than a year old). The chosen artist's work will then be included in the next month's cincinnatiArtist of the month.

When these images are used an effort will be made to credit the original artist and/or photographer. Any media submitted (CD-ROMs, floppy disks, zip disks, etc.) will only be returned if a self-addressed envelope with the appropriate postage is included. cincinnatiArts.com, Enjoy the Arts/START, its staff and associates are not responsible for damage to that media.

Please understand that this is a family-oriented website and we will only use images appropriate for viewing by children of any age.

All images used will be modified to include the cincinnatiArtist of the month and credit titles, to discourage illegal use outside of these websites. cincinnatiArts.com, Enjoy the Arts/START, its staff and associates are not responsible for any misuse of the images by website visitors. Images will also be resized and optimized, and may therefore not look entirely like the original submissions.
